April Reflection: Hey sis, Hey!

Hi ladies, I hope your Monday is going well so far. If I can be honest, I’ve been doing a lot of internal reflection and realizing there are shifts happening in my life where things that are not of God are being stripped away. Those changes are impacting me, and it’s making me feel a little lost in my walk with Christ right now. Things that I thought I knew weren’t really true, or they were desires of my own heart and not God’s. So I had to make the decision to either live life lukewarm and full of myself, or make the necessary changes to be obedient and disciplined. It’s like knowing what to do correctly in life to be a healthier version of yourself, but still choosing the same cycle because that’s what you’re used to.

But I came to the realization that in some ways I’ve been like Lot’s wife, who turned into a pillar of salt because she looked back. I’ve found myself being so stuck on what has happened in the past (ex boyfriends, past betrayal, weirdness from other people, past failures and slip-ups, etc.) that I never took the time to realize what God has already freed me from. Even if it is a season of isolation, He has freed me from the people and environments that were keeping me away from Him. I’ve also noticed that constantly beating myself up or being too hard on myself is taking away from the work that God is doing within me. I’m adding extra stress and heaviness that God is not causing.

I say all of this to say, I’m not sure what season of life you’re in right now. Maybe you’re like me and in a transition phase but struggling with looking back. I want to encourage you to remember that the enemy loves using our mind as a battlefield, which is why it is important that we ask for renewal of the mind daily. Don’t be so caught up living in the past that you don’t realize God is doing a new thing. He really is, sis. The new thing may be quieter, boring, unfamiliar, and it may throw your nervous system completely off (something I am learning), but be patient with yourself and continue to endure this season with gratefulness. Even if you feel like Christ isn’t as close as He typically feels, He is still near.

In case you haven’t forgiven yourself for anything, or if you’re still carrying old baggage from last week into the new week, please forgive yourself. Ask God for forgiveness, repent, ask God for guidance, and move forward. It’s already finished, and there’s no need to rehearse or relive the moment. No one can take what God has for you. Don’t allow your purpose to pass you by. I love you all, and if anyone needs anything, I am here.
